Aaaah, I remember my son lunging at his baby sister in this way. He hit her in the head with a toy red fire engine I remember and we all spent the afternoon sobbing in casualty! You really made me smile tonight, I miss those days, or do I?

guineapigmum - yes it's hard when strapping 2-year olds take exception to tiny babies. But that phase does end, much as it seems to endure for ever at the time.

Lady - survival was the only option! They play together happily for hours now.

Beta - words are used more these days, mainly by Ben who likes to tease Hannah into squealing "Be-en!"

Oh, I don't miss those days. Although we've moved on from physical torment to psychological torture. Will there be day when everyone just gets along?!

This sounds sooo familiar. We've got a 2 yr & 6 day gap - they're 15 & 13 now. My nadir was when the big beefy 2 yr old put delicate baby brother's hand in his mouth & bit down hard. Yes, my hand went out too and I still feel guilty! But i also still feel slightly cold when I think that he could have bitten the fingers clean off! (Make that dirty - I don't think a 2 yo's mouth could be described as clean).

And every time I sat down to breast feed, 2yo would make it to the chair before me. If i managed to turf him out, he'd need a drink from the fridge on the other side of the room.

Now they just beat each other up, words and physical! But they're best friends.
